Julie Nilsson

Julie Nilsson refers to her work as bold personal expressions. Currently, figurative work has been her predominant interest. as she gives a voice to the too often voiceless women, children and elderly of third world countries where she has traveled extensively, as well as to those in less recognized cultures within our own country. Together with strong social commentary, Julie's paintings are rich in light and color. They are a blend of social statement combined with her own unique artistic expression. As well as her figurative work, a wide range of subjects, including plein aire landscapes, continue to inspire her.

Julie grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and received her degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She has lived in Fort Collins, Colorado, for the past 15 years where she has continued a lifelong association with two-dimensional art which began in childhood. She pursued her studies at the Loveland Academy of Fine Art with such notable masters as David Leffel, Kim English, Burton Silverman, and William Rees. Additionally she has studied in the Masters Classes in painting with Barbara Marquardt.

Julie's paintings have been represented in many exhibits and shows and have received numerous awards. Her paintings are collected by private and corporate collectors around the country and she has been represented by several galleries in the West.
